| Automated Ventilation
Simplifies Climate Control.
Automatic vent openers on the roof and base vents
require no electricity or batteries. The vent operator contains a paraffin
(wax) that expands when the temperature reaches about 65ºF, pushing the
vent open to its fully opened position at about 85ºF. As it cools and
the paraffin contracts, the operators springs draw each vent closed. Its
adjustable within approximately 5ºF and easily detachable for manual
operation.
Thorough Air Circulation.
The roof vent allows air to escape at the hottest
point, the roof ridge. Cooler air enters the base vent, creating a
chimney effect and circulating cool fresh air throughout the greenhouse.
The convenient Dutch door provides additional ventilation control and
easy access.
Attractive and Durable Redwood Frame.
The 2" x 2" clear grade, kiln dried redwood
framing is naturally resistant to insect and moisture damage. It resists
warping in moist or dry environments. No protective treatment is
necessary.
Only second growth redwood is used in the GardenHouse,
thus preserving old-growth redwood forests.
The frame base is 2" x 4" plastic lumber
made of 100% recycled plastic. Its impervious to rot, mildew and insects
and matches the redwood frames color.
No Foundation Required.
Exceptionally rigid and lightweight, only the corners
of a GardenHouse need to be anchored to the ground.
Assembles Quickly and Easily.
Major components are panelized for an easy, sure fit.
Panelized sections are joined by screws. A power screwdriver, a 6'
stepladder and a tape measure are all that's needed for easy assembly.
The 6' x 8' model takes about 3-6 hours to assemble. Even the 8' x 12'
takes less than a day for a "non builder" to complete.
Strong-Tie® Connector System Provides Superior
Strength and Durability.
Simpson Strong-Ties patented Rigid Tie™ Connectors
make this structure rigid and strong. The GardenHouse was tested by an
independent lab and withstood their maximum wind load capacity of 85
miles per hour with no damage.
Efficient Roof System
The optimum 45º roof slope transmits low angle sun in
the winter and reflects high angle sun in the summer. This increases
heat in the winter and reduces it in the summer. It also leaves lots of
headroom and plant hanging space. The steep roof slope sheds snow in the
winter and can withstand a snow load of 18lb. per square foot.
Optional Benches.
Specially designed matching redwood benches are
available that run the full length of the GardenHouse. Benches are
21" deep for all models except the 8' x 12' model, which are
31" deep. They can be stacked to provide additional growing
surface.
